do you HAVE to use the strong white/specialist bread flour or are you ok to use ordinary flour? and if you are which do you use - plain or self raising?
I have been making my own bread using a combination of strong white flour and wholemeal bread flour - but obviously ordinary is cheaper
I don't have a breadmaker if that makes any difference.....

just remember you may need to add more water if you are using wholemeal flour, if you use 2/3 white and 1/3 wholemeal i doubt your son will even noticefounder of Frugal Genius UK (Yahoo Groups)0
