Yorkshire, ideas for places to go with kids
Hi, I'm wanting to collate a file of ideas (cheap if possible!) of places to go with the kids in the Yorkshire area; Leeds, Harrogate, York, Wakefield, Bradford etc.
I realise that there are websites that have these but think they are pretty limited and focus on paying attractions. I'm looking for family favourites, little gems that I can explore in the holidays; a walk, park, picnic place etc
So far I've come up with;
Hemsworth water park (£2)
Rowntree Park - York / free
Spofforth Castle / free
The strid - Bolton / free
Valley Gardens - Harrogate / free
Golden Acre Park - Leeds / free
Brimham rocks / NT
Shibden Hall
Swinsty Reservoir
Lightwater Valley
Newby Hall
Anyone got any little gems they can share with me?

One of my kids favourites is -
St Ives park in Bingley - free (huge playground and some good walks)
We went to Swinsty for the first time yesterday and had a good afternoon there.
Valley Gardens in Harrogate is a massive thumbs up. The playground and skate park are a huge hit.
Yeadon tarn is a nice wander around too.
I was just looking at the half term offers at Odeon cinemas. They have daily screenings of a kids film for £2.50 per child and adults are free.0 -

We go to Betton Farm, it is small but have a few animals, play area and picnic benches. It's free and has really clean hand washing and toilet areas. It's at East Ayton near Scarborough.Owner of a cute cottage in the North York Moors :j0

When it's sunny weather our kids love to go to Burnsall which is close to Bolton Abbey.
You can park next to the river and get all your picnic gear out for the day, paddle in the river, have a walk and play frisbee etc in the field.
Much better than Bolton Abbey cause you don't have to lug all your equipment over the road from the car park like you do in Bolton Abbey.0
