Does she realise the severity of her problems?

I just find it a bit worrying that her house is due to be repossesed and she is more concerned about her cash card being swallowed!

The only way she is gonna get out of this is with communication with her mortgage lenders. They won't want the hassle of going to court so she needs to pull her finger out and get on the phone to them and do everything in her power to straighten things out.

Is there any way to get her signed up and posting on here?

she is signed up but not posting on here!! she is very quiet and not very confident, im so worried about her, im tryin my best to help her but its not working.

she thinks her problems will be over once she has claimed back her charges!!!

i have been tellin her to speak to cccs or payplan for a few months now for help but to no avail!!

i was honest with her about my debts so she would open up to me which she has done, ive give her little bits of homework to do, ie an soa, budgets, letters to creditors but none has been done, she hasnt had the light bulb moment but i cant force it on her an im afraid its too late for her!!

what puzzles me is why give her a £60,000 mortgage (shared ownership) then have to pay rent when she is on less than 13k a year, single parent 2 kids!!

  • I used to work for a mortgage lender and usually by the time it got to the stage of repossesion there were at least a year of problems, not just a couple of missed payments.

The lenders would much rather extract 25years plus of interest from you than go through the hassle of court and repo.

Not saying your friend ain't telling the truth but perhaps things have been bad for longer than she is willing to admit.

  • I don't know what your friend is expecting from reclaiming her bank charges but it took 10 months to get mine from requesting a list of charges to actually receiving the money with my biggest claim.

The smallest claim still took 2 months to get the money back. So I would suggest she looks at alternative solutions such as CCCS, Payplay or Citizens Advice.

    Hi saintly

I was also a single parent with 2 kids in 1999 I was on income support and my mortgage was not paid for the 2 months then half was paid for 2months. I also faced repossesion in that short while. CAB put me in touch with a lady who worked for the council who helped people in this sittuation. I got all my paper work together and went to see her, she spoke to the Abbey for me. When it came to all I actualy owed them was £100.00, I made that payment and then regular payments off my debt until income support started to pay my interest. I still have my house.

Hope your friend can sort it out too.

I think losing her house will be a lightbulb moment...

I have a feeling her head has been firmly implanted in the sand.
(Mine was stuck so far down for years I was best mates with someone in China, lol)

Best of luck, she's very lucky to have a friend like you,

If she is not paying her mortgage and the house is reposessed, will she count as making herself intentionally homeless?
Has she checked that she is getting all the help that she is entitled to?
    best of luck

Well at least send her this link so she can read it.

If she is pinning her hopes on reclaimed bank charges I'm afraid she is heading for a heavy fall! They might take some of the impact but it won't stop her tumbling.

I know how frustrating this must be for you but you can only help someone who wants to be helped! If she doesn't you are fighting a losing battle.
