Mackenzie hall - How have they obtaiined by landline number

I had a call from this collection agency and when they called they asked for me by my name whcih i used to use some 6 years ago

ie i used to useto go by the name of christopher and now i use the name chris.

All my recent applications for banks and credit cards have been made using chris and my telephone is x directory

so how have they been able to get my number - as it been shared with by some other bank or comapnay else ?
