It is not a matter of being the "best". You should be aware that soem companies do not report at all three redit Reference Agencies, therefore contacting one may not report your full credit status.

I have just requested my £2 Statutory Credit Report by post from each of them. It is not easy to find the application forms on their respective websites - as they want your money for their "free" "report in seconds" online services, but it should be the cleanest/cheapest way.

Update: I posted the forms off on Monday and Experian's report arrived in the post yesterday (Thursday) - they do not even wait for the cheque to clear!
