Hi All
I've also posted this on the Small Biz board, but thought you crafty lot might be able to help, especially if you've ever received a baby bouquet!
I am in the process of setting up a small (and I mean *small*!) business selling baby bouquets - bouquets made up of clothing rolled to look like flowers for those not in the know.
I was intending to start small and local, but already a couple of friends have asked me to create some to send to friends/relatives.
I'm still at the early stages, so don't want to turn business away, but am uncertain who to use to get the best rates and most reliable postal service.
Looking at existing internet companies, they all use couriers, but only charge on around £5-9 of the cost. I'm assuming that they're able to do this because they are bigger businesses and can therefore negotiate business rates.
Any ideas of how best to package these items and also who would you send them through? I can send for less if it's not done on "next day delivery", but wasn't sure how important this would be going forward. I work 25hours a week and have 2 small children to manage too, so it's unlikely that next day delivery would even be possible for me to handle, but I wondered what you all thought?
Any tips on who to use, or even who to avoid, would be gratefully received!
Plus, if you've ever sent or received one of these bouquets, do you have any idea as to how they've been packaged?
TIA

My charity use hermies, we only send one offs so it's not like we have a business account. They tend to be around £5Best wins in 2013 £200 and Mini iPad. 2014 no wins. 2015 2 nights 5* hotel with £300 vouchers plus £1150 Harrods gift card
Rehome an unwanted prize or gift with a seriously ill child through Postpals.co.uk0 -
We use Hermes when selling on ebay - we worked out that anything over a certain size/weight was cheaper that way.
[We also have to drive at least 4 miles to a post office, so it is much more convenient]
They collect from the door on the day you have booked - we always contact the buyer in advance to check if there is suitable drop off place, which you can add to the label.0 -
Ah! this sounds really good as my other half sells tattoo inspired baby clothing from home, the nearest post office isnt too far away but might be a bit of a mission with bags of clothes and a pram too! have you got a weblink? I'm having trouble finding them online0
