Administration fees?

Hi all, I work for a Health Care angency, and I get paid weekly.

Every week on my pay slip the agency deducts £1.75 for administration costs.

I have never come across this before in previous employment, when I tell people about the charges they seem shocked that the agency does this.

Are they allowed to charge for these administration costs or is this the norm these days?

My daughter used to work for an agency as a helath care assistant. She was paid monthly and had £1 a month deducted as administration fees. It was in her contract, so she had to accept it. What does your contract say?

I wonder if the money is still deducted if you were earning minimum wage?

My daughter was earning above NMW, so it didn't affect her. Also, it was a much smaller amount than the OP.
