Help with potatoes and onions please

i want to avoid the shops this week and just use what i have in my cupboard/fridge etc untill saturday ive gone to make a potato bake and

my potatoes feel rubbery and my onions have greenish furry stuff on the skins, ive taken the skin away and they are fine underneath

any help on if i can use slightly rubbery spuds and mouldy skin onions would be great otherwise its pasta tonight and a trip to the shop tomorrow

    It sounds like your potatoes have been in a warm environment, when you peel them do so in cold water rather than warm and rinse in fresh cold water, this should bring a bit of rigidity back to them. The onion will be fine just cut away any visible mould, you tend to find the heart will go before the outer rings, so cut in half and make sure the centre is ok.
    I had a plan..........its here somewhere.
