well it may not be the best thing but head to Focus (if you have one near) and take something proving you have just moved and your new address, they will then give you a 10% discount card, so at least you can save money on diy and getting the place looking like you own.

we moved in in december and have found freecycle is great, look on yahoo and type in freecycle, there may be a group in your area. You need to give something away first but then you can "take" stuff if you find what you need!

    Good luck

OOh that's good - is it a one time 10% off or can you use it everytime you go in there?
How did you prove you'd just moved in somewhere?

  • Re: Focus

Just take in evidence you moved, e.g. something from solicitor and they will give you a card valid for 6 months. Everything is 10% off, I've used it LOTS, and it seems to work on everything in store (not online). Bathroom suite, doors, electrical goods. Tip, if you can be bothered, see what you want, check b&q, etc if they are cheaper, get focus to match price then when you pay give the 10% card too!

Domino's Pizza used to give you a free pizza if you moved, but I can't find anything about that now so that deal must be long finished, I never got to take advantage of that one mind you.

Here's a site that might help you:

    http://www.iammoving.com/

It lets you notify all your bills, credit cards, banks, tv licence, DVLA, etc that you are moving. It will at least make that part of it easier. ;)

The pizza offer was on here a while ago, not sure if it's still going but the original discussion about it is below.

Do not switch any subscriptions to places like lovefilm etc. to your new address. Cancel them, then at your new address register a new account, going through a cashback site.
