Had some last minute student confirmed for arriving next weekend for 2 weeks so that makes it 8 solid weeks of back to back students! The only small gap I have is 6hours between one set leaving and another arriving! That's not long to clean and wash bedding! All good practice for the B&B dream when I'm older :D hopefully I'm looking at £2kish from that :D

£5 swags to add and promptly added to my amazon balance. Hoping to buy DS a DS for Xmas but I'm not sure, struggling with the thought of him having electronic games at 9, I know most of his class has a game of some sort but I think he's too young, I want him to play outside and use his imagination whilst he still can. He went on a school trip last week and children were allowed to take a gaming device on the coach, EVERY kid in his year had one but my boy! I felt bad for that but when his teacher tells me it's refreshing to see a kid without one, then maybe I should hold off for another year? I promised him the very latest gaming device when he passes his 11+ and he's excited about that, should I make it earlier?

nat , I feel the same as you.

I prefer DS to be outside playing and indoors playing with cars, puzzles, etc, rather than watching TV or playing electronic games.

Saying that I am going to buy him some VTECH toy tomorrow but it will help him learn maths and reading, so it is for educational purposes.

But to be honest DS would rather be out than sitting in the house all day.

It is a shame when your DS is the only one on the bus without an electronic device, as it makes him feel left out, but it is good discipline that he doesn't expect to have one to keep him entertained.

It's a hard one. Am inclined to say stick with your 11+ offer, as it will mean more to him then.

Vtech are ok though, it's an educational gaming device and this is where I could compromise, only buy educational games for he DS :D

Nat I agree with you. My DD is 4 yo and we don't watch tv (cancelled our licence last year as we didn't watch it) she plays educational games on my iPad and "writes" letters on the laptop. She does not have her own gaming device and def does not (or will not) have a tv in her bedroom. My inlaws live 4 1/2hrs away so we did buy her a portable DVD player for journeys and she appreciates it as she knows it's a treat. At home it goes away and she only gets it for long journeys.

She has a fantastic imagination and much prefers active activities than sitting down watching tv/playing games. I hope to see that continue as she grows older and that she'll be a role model for her brother.

I think the 11+ is a very good incentive and it will teach discipline for him and also the reward of working towards a goal. However I think as long as you limit his time on it rather than letting it "babysit" him constantly then letting him have it earlier wont harm. Has he got something coming up that he could earn it through good behaviour, good results etc?

I think I will hold off, he's really excited at the thought of going to grammar school and I really want that to continue. He's been asking for a DS since he was 5 so what's another year?! He has other treats like cub trips, where many of his cub friends parents can't afford to send them, I can and will because they do so many outdoor activities and learn life skills. No other child in his class have been gorge walking and kayaked at sea, that's something he's proud of.

If they don't sell on Ebay, rather than selling them for pence per kg, stick them all on a Facebook selling group where you are, even 50p-£1 each will get you lots more than selling to a rag man!
People won't have to worry about paying an extra couple of quid for postage like they do on Ebay.

Thank you for that suggestion I may give it a go. There is 2 hrs left on my items and 2 have sold making 3 pounds lol.

On the plus side I have two bookings for threading (hair removal) next week so thats 15 pounds in the pot :T:T:T
I posted adverts on gumtree and netmums for my threading and got lots of interest :)

Thank you very much for adding me Nat, quick question, do winnings count? I have had a DD for lottery online, which I've now cancelled (after adding up how much i'd spent over a year=ouch!) but on our final draw we won £25 on the +5 for last night.

I would have usually just left it in there to be used up on tickets, but this time I transfered it back to the bank:j

I've taken some orders for some knitted items today and have some ebay things finishing, but will add those bits once they are paid for
