This is good news:-

Maybe opens up a few options for anybody that can't get mains gas.

That's interesting!
Plus Bryson energy site says that
a 'renewable heat incentive' will commence second half of 2012
- including those with access to natural gas.
( Annual Grant Aid based on system performance available up to 20 years and will apply to new and existing installations from September 2010)0 -
I wouldn't hold my breath about getting RHI for mains gas. I don't think any decisions have been made about what will qualify for it but you never know.
With regard to the RHPP, the rates being offered over here are much better than those in England, Scotland and Wales which is nice.Solar Thermal Hot Water England, Scotland and Wales - £300 NI - £320 Air-to-Water Heat Pump (ASHP) England, Scotland and Wales - £850 NI - £1700 Ground-Source (GSHP) or Water-Source Heat Pump England, Scotland and Wales - £1250 NI - £3500 Biomass Boiler England, Scotland and Wales - £950 NI - £2500
Maybe makes the likes of GSHP more of an option than it would have been without the financial support. I'm sure the local installers will be happy.
