we completed our tax return for 10/11 and the HMRC wrote to inform us that we were due a rebate of 1300 quid and it would be made by bank transfer back in November. We are still waiting and have been on to them numerous amounts of time to chase it up!
They are now saying that they need a copy of my husbands p60 from that year (he went self employed part way through the year) and we can't find it. Without the form they will not give us the rebate and the employer ceased trading 12 months ago so we can't contact them!
Where can we get a copy of his p60 from? surely HMRC should hold this information on their systems??
Can anyone help? Please???
thanks
Lesley

If he went self employed part way through the year then he wont have a P60 from his old employer as he was self employed at year end. he should have a P45 from when he ceased work with the employer.0

I don't think they gave him one of them then! I definatley haven't come across a p45. It was only a small firm which has now folded so how can I get a copy?
Should HMRC not already have this information? Why do they make it so difficult?? They have fobbed us off for 8 months and now they are saying they aren't going to pay up!! It makes me so mad! Sorry I'm just really annoyed.

COMPLAINT CASE.
This gets the job done in the end. You are right, every employer has to electronically submit a P45, so if they have none on record the fault lies with them for not processing it properly, or alternatively with them for not chasing up the employer properly.Hideous Muddles from Right Charlies0 -

Your final payslip of the year gives the same figures as the P60, and the final payslip from an employer should have the same figures as a P45. I think.
So can he find his final payslip from this employer? Maybe send that, with a letter explaining that no P45 was issued, employer now out of business etc.Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
How did you complete the tax return without having the P45 information? Just send them whatever you had at the time if you didn't have the P45, i.e. final payslips or whatever.
Or did you have it and have since lost it?
Or didn't you put the employment earnings on the tax return?0
