Hi,
I have had an offer accepted on a property. I previously indicated that I might go through London and Country for a mortgage but I have been looking at mortgages with Post Office and their rates do look attractive.
I was just wondering what they are like as a lender? I have seen the thread from earlier today and thankfully that problem seems to have been resolved. Also, some of you have indicated that they do a valuation before they look at your finances, I suppose that could be a concern as I am self-employed though I have an excellent credit rating and three years worth of SA302. We also have a 20% deposit.
How long do post office take to process mortgages and are there any circumstances where they would be fussy over who they lend to?

If your comfortable with the process and have found a deal your happy with - it wouldnt hurt to see if L&C can offer you a better deal.
So long as you have 3 years SA302's then you should be alright depending on what te last 3 years show. Speak to the post office (or Bank or Ireland i think it is that actually administer the policies) you might be able to speak to an underwriter, take their name and run your situation past them.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. Thanks, that is good advice.0

Brokers in general are good sales people and most will be longing to sell you insurance. At least an over the phone Post Office adviser is easier to fob off!0

Just noticed that PO have put the rates for the fix we want up by 0.30! They've held their tracker rates though. I think we might try the L&C route first now.0
