Not everyone lives close enough to walk. Many live so far from the store that they only shop once a month because of the cost of petrol.
This is one of the reasons why they build stores out of town. Once you have got there you spend more than you need to because you buy things "just in case you will need them", thinking it is better to buy extra than have to come back for something.0 -

Lazy? Here we go with the reasons I use online shopping:
My petrol cost are more than the delivery costs if delivered "off-peak".
Online shopping is quicker.
Shopping with 2 kids can be frustrating. Especially when my 4 year old is asking for things whilst my 12 month old is sitting in the trolley seat and turning herself around to pick up items from the trolley or reaching out to grab from the shelves!
I work 5 days a week and want to spend my weekends with my family having fun - not in a supermarket.
So, it's cheaper, quicker, less hassle and allows me to spend more leisure time with my family. £4-5? Bargain!0 -
This will be great for me, thanks MSE for the heads up!0

I just sign up for a new account every week and use their "Save £10" order. Only downside is making up a new name every week and also receiving about a hundred different clubcard statements (the vouchers are useful though!).0

I was always a loyal Tesco customer both instore and online until I moved house. I now only have a Tesco Express near me, but I had continued with my monthly online shop from Tesco for all the weighty or cumbersome shopping. UNTIL! I was shopping in my local Sainsbury's store and they gave me a voucher for online shopping.
If you check the website, Sainsbury's will DELIVER your shopping FREE OF CHARGE if you spend a minimum of £100 and have it delivered on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday. Deliveries start early and finish late and you can have a one hour delivery slot. Plus NECTAR points!
I'm sorry, Tesco but you will have to up your game a little more to get my custom back!0 -

Or if you don't want to spend so much try Waitrose.com:Free delivery
We’re also the only online UK supermarket to offer free delivery on every order over £50. And with our essential Waitrose range online, you can choose from hundreds of everyday items at affordable prices.
They also have a Tesco Price Match. No extra points, but the delivery van is pretty so the neighbours will be mightily impresed.0 -
I actually spend more if I go into store, buying online means there are less impulse buys and we eat healthier as I am not tempted to pick up cakes and crap that otherwise ends up in the basket!!
As for spending £100 a week to get free delivery from Sainsbury..... kind of defeats the object surely??0 -
Don't be fooled by "Price Match".
#1 It's only on branded items, not own brand stuff, for which Tesco is cheaper on by far. The only one cheaper on own brand is Asda, and their own brand stuff is muck in my opinion.
#2 Tesco have branded stuff that none of the other Supermarkets have, different pack sizes etc, especially the bigger packs that Waitrose and Ocado don't carry, but offer much better value than the smaller packs...
#3 Finally, and most importantly Price Match does not apply to products on special offer or multi-buy promotion. Next time you're in Tesco take a look at how many products have the good old yellow offer label and you'll realise how useless Price Match really is.0
