Suncream for eczema and sensitive skin

Hi, Due to go to egypt later this year and starting to stock up on toiletries but unsure what suncreams to buy. I have very sensitive skin, tan quite easily but suffer form eczema, very dry and sensitive skin prone to prickly heat.
My little boy age 7 also has very sensitive skin.
So I need to buy suncreams for us both (hubby and DD both fine so will stick with boots own for them). I have used in the past Nivea and Ambre solaire but still suffer from prickly heat with both, I find anything water resistant is the worse as the skin cannot breathe.
React to Boots, piz buin, malibu, calypso. I react to coconut oil and anything with lanolin in.
Can any one recommend anything, I don't mind spending a little more than normal if it means I can go the whole holiday without itching and suffering from allergic reactions.

Can't recommend suncreams as I can use just about anything apart from stuff with lanolin, but why not start taking an antihistamine about a week before you go. I get prickly heat and am allergic to mosquito bites, I've found that taking the antihistamines before I go and while I'm away makes the reactions less severe. I believe most of the soltan range is lanolin free4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0

My daughter has really sensitive skin. Used superdrugs own brand Solait last year and no reaction at all. Tried Nivea one day in the shop - just a little on her hand and the allergic reaction immediate.
They are sold in bright red bottles - easy to spot in the shop.0 -
I can highly recommend Riemann P20 - it's amazing stuff. I use it on my three year old toddlers, one of whom has eczema, and it works brilliantly. It is a bit pricey compared to the cheap makes but a little goes a long way. There are some great reviews on Amazon I think.0

My daughter is very sensitive to suncreams and most bring her out in hives. We've had some success with Sunsense (purple tube) but it's quite expensive and she does react to it if we use it for several days in a row.
The best one we've found for her is Banana Boat Kids in an aerosol can, it applies really really easily (don't even need to rub it in!) and we did 2 weeks in Florida without any skin reactions or burning (she's very very fair) so I think it's fab0 -
Everyone is different and what sets your skin reaction off may not be the same as for others.
Egypt can get super-hot in the summer, the best advice is to avoid sun where possible ((eg stay in around the middle of the day), and cover up as much as possible. Obviously you'll still need a good block, it may be worth trying clear sprays (including Soltan) as the physical composition is different to creams, or try products labelled hypoallergenic?Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

Thanks, I take an antihistamine every day for allergies, don't know what it is the soltan but it doesn't agree with me at all. I'll try the solait, I have also heard some reviews on the Riemann, trouble with sensitive skin it costs a fortune. The number of creams etc I have bought and then thrown away.
Boots are usually really good, any items from their own range or the no7 they have always given me a refund in full if I have suffered a reaction.0 -
I just don't use suncream
Although iv never burnt as i have a naturally olive skin tone from being half-asian.
I take 3 antihistamines a day to keep my eczema from diring me nuts0 -
Have you tried Ultrasun, you can (so I have heard not sure if true or not) get it on prescription? I am very allergic, to coconunt which seems to be in a lot of sun products but am fine with this.0

Oh I'll speak to my GP about that one, I already have the pre-payments card for all my other creams and inhalers so certainly worth a visit.0 -
Look for a mineral suncream. This works completely differently to normal suncream (even sensitive skin ones). There are a few brands and local organic shop to me sells about four or five different ones (last year in Dubai we used a Badger one, this year i just bought Lavera (or some similar name!)but you can also buy them online. They block & reflect off the sun rays (i think!) instead of using chemicals. For your child I would put them in a uv top & shorts (sun suit) that has SPF50 protection without the need for cream & just cream the exposed bits. As an added bonus my little ones eczema was actually helped by the sun & the cream in Dubai last Oct.MTC NMP Membership #62 - made it back to size 12 after my children & I'm staying here!0
