Switching suppliers while on a DMP (subject to credit checks)

Hi, I'm still here, just keeping my head above water (note: just)
I tried to switch from BT to The Post office for cheaper line rental and calls, and it all went wrong, well, they "accepted me" then said I cancelled the order
I would now like to switch to Virgin for my landline and broadband, which will cost me something like £27 a month.
I am currently paying £24 to BT just for the phone and £17 for broadband (not with BT), so I could save a massive £14 a month going to Virgin.....
...but as I am up the creek without a paddle and on a DMP with CCCS (owing £27k), I guess I will spectacularly fail any credit check with Virgin.
This is so unfair, as I'm trying to get things cheaper, but catch 22 - I can't as no one will accept me.
So, am I really stuck with BT for my calls and line rental until this debt is paid off..... in 2030
I have the money put aside each month to pay for BT, and for the broadband (both which come out my basic Co-Op account by Direct Debit each month), but I reckon any credit check will red flag me and decline me
Any opinions please?

The same goes if I want to apply for a new cheaper mobile (I'm currently on a rip off PAYG).
By the way, I have had default notices on all the credit cards I owed money on, which I believe stay on my credit file for 6 years from issue?.0 -
Stay with BT and reduce your payments to the DMP and don't worry about it. Why are you paying until 2030? Do you own property?
There are some good PAYG plans you need to shop around you will not get a contract with bad credit.:footie:Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

I am already paying £126 to the CCCS, but my outgoings (rent) have gone up so can't afford to pay them the £126 any more
I think they won't accept anything less than £100 as my debt free date is already set at 2030. I don't own property btw.
I just thought if I could combine landline with broadband I would save quite a bit. Would Virgin turn me down too then? There are some good PAYG plans you need to shop around you will not get a contract with bad credit.
Didn't think I would get a phone contract. Worth asking though.
Thank you for the quick reply..0 -
I got Virgin BB with bad credit last year. I just had to pay them a "deposit" of £100. It maybe different with a package though. You can only ask!In debt no more!0

It's worth applying on-line for a sim only deal. These are far easier to get that a full contract, and after a set time (3-6 months), you can then upgrade to a full deal with a phone if thats what you want. The main check they do is no debt to that network, and positive ID check. Voda sim only sims are pretty easy to get.0

I'm on a dmp, with a larger debt, and I've changed mobile phone contract, and broadband package and electric suppliers in the past year. No problems.0

Can i just make a point, and i know im going to get lots of nasty comments about this but .... if your going to be on DMP till 2030 thats another 18 years. can i ask why you havn't made yourself Bankrupt?
By 2018 ( 6 years away) that marker will drop off. and youll wipe out all your crediors in 1 go with banrupcy. being on DMP thats 3 times this about 18 years....
I just don't understand why people do it to themselfs?? maybe im mad!0 -

as much as i hate to say it, 3 would prob be your best bet, their credit check is next to nothing, as long as you havnt screwed them in the past, and you have a debit card0 -

Thanks for the reply, although I'm shocked at the £100 deposit requested. They'd not get that off me, I'm on a DMP and don't have £100 .0 -

You're not mad, I got myself into this mess and feel I owe them the money back, but 2030 is ridiculous when I am gonna have to ask CCCS to reduce the £126 I'm paying as I can't afford that anymore.
Re: bankruptcy, I'd apply tomorrow *if* I could keep my car, but as it's value is around £2,000 they'd all say NO.... hence the 18 year slog ahead of me until I'm 60..... OMG
.0
