Threat on my doorstep by Moorcroft

Options
I have just been visited by a person from Moorcroft Debt Recovery, I told him the name of the debt management company, I thought that by law I didn't need to say anything else to him.

He replies, "you know the law living in a street like this" well I saw red went to grab my phone because I wanted a photo of this person so I could conplain, he then hit me with his clipboard (witnessed by neighbour) in doing so knocking my phone out of my hand. I managed to get a photo and took another of the number plate of his car He then said "People will be coming to see you" "You will be visited tonight".

I phoned Moorcroft, who made me even more furious as they had heard from the debt management Company and were just awaiting my Income & Outgoings, they said they would stop anymore doorstep callers but didn't know if they would be able to do it for tonight, I explained about the threats but they didn't really appear to care.

My question is, who can I write to with a complaint, was thiking of calling the police but not sure if my stress levels will be able to cope.

Any advice would be so gratefully received.

I'd be calling the police station on the local number as that is assault. You do not need to be physically injured for an assault to occur. Just ignore Moorcroft now they won't take this any further knowing one of their representatives hit you.

Police and report the assault and make sure your witness is up for it as well.
You have the Car reg, they will find the assailant.

go to the police station with the witness and your phone (before going to the police download a copy of the pictures onto you PC for later fun). File a complaint for common assault. he will be picked up tonight.
then initiate a complaint with moorcroft tomorrow remember you have the images should you need to send them.

Calling the police is not stressful. They can actually be quite friendly when dealing with a sensitive situation. The claim will be decided by the court and it'll probably just be £50 but the bailiff will have much worse consequences including a fine and his licence will be reconsidered by the court that issued it. I imagine an out of court settlement might be forthcoming asking the OP to withdraw all charges and the debt written off.

not on about the police on about the assault!!! the shock of the assault and a neighbour needing to calm you down etc etc etc. DCA's lie but I would guess the OP might have been shocked by the actions of this individual and that is stressful. even though the police are nice, a victim of crime and the reporting of such things are deemed as stressful.
