Hi all, this is a thread to discuss the MSE blog:
Ordering online? Your address could leave you flat
"If you live in a flat conversion, did you know you could end up missing out on top deals because many retailers won’t recognise your address, which could mean you fail a credit check?..."

This is also true if you live in a new build. My house was built 2 years ago, and a lot of websites still don't recognise the house number. Makes ordering things like broadband and utilities difficult (especially through Quidco etc) as it cannot find it automatically and needs me to call ...0

It happens to us all the time. The AA, the RBS and Insurance company have us down as 24-26, which is actually the address range of the building and the shop below, ie we are 24 and the shop below us is 26. We tend to go along with it as the shop belongs to my parents anyway, but it would be problematic if there were strangers there. The joke of it is though, it's been separate addresses for about 40 years, way before there were any databases as such.No spend days 2/20, Food for 5 for January £30.67/£200, Fuel/Transport £0/260, Charitable giving £20

I live in a 40 year old council flat which every company seems to list in a different method. I've had many problems over the years resulting from this.0
