Hello,

Me and a friend are going to Glasgow for a weekend, and looking for it to be as cheap as possible, so we've narrowed down our hotel choices to

http://www.ibishotel.com/gb/hotel-3139-ibis-glasgow-city-centre/index.shtml
(Ibis Hotel)
or

http://www.renniemackintoshstationhotel.co.uk/ (Rennie Mackintosh Station hotel)

Both are working out around the same price (with Breakfast in Rennie Mackintosh hotel though)

Any recommendations from the lovely glaswegians?
Which is more central to the main shopping areas and bars etc?

It really depends on what you are intending to do with your stay!
The one which is now calling itself the Rennie McIntosh Hotel is extremely central for shops, and only 2 minutes walk from Central Station. You would be very handy for all sites in the centre of town, as well as anywhere else you might want to take a train or underground to, like the Burrell Collection or the West End. A family friend has stayed there, however, and was distinctly unimpressed with the food, the cleanliness and the gerneral condition.
The other 2 are at the other end of town, and so about 10 to 15 minutes walk from the things I've mentioned ( although they are closer to the 2 theatres) but would probably be nicer to stay in.
    Hope this helps

I can't comment on that particular Ibis having not stayed there but the last two I did stay at have put me off staying with them.

Basically experienced slightly tatty rooms and rusty/dirty bathrooms.

I'd avoid both of those, if possible. I've not been in either, but the outside would be enough to put me off. The Hilton might be worth it. It's about a fifteen minute walk from the centre of town, but it is next to the motorway.

Have you looked at the Citizen M hotel? They can sometimes have some good prices, same with the Holiday Inn hotels. Or what about a B&B?

    Citizen M is £145 - the other 2 are £80 for 2 nights for 2 people.

I will try the holiday inn

What about Travel lodge Glasgow Central - its £90 roughly
