Catalogue Fraud - Catalogue demanding repayment

presumably K is over 18?
therefore its not up to the family what to do, its her name, her credit file
its therefore her decision
does she know the consequences that will affect her if they dont deal with the fraud?
This is a very good point. Also, if they don't persue this then what is to stop daughter H taking out more catalogues in K's name? Just paying off the debt will be seen to be acknowledgement that it's K's. At least if they continue with police proceedings then any time H does this in the future, the police and companies involved will be more willing and ready to see it for what it is.0 -
Cheers guys.
I think due to the stress they don't want this hanging over them. I'll pop over next week with some MSE forms and give her a hand.0 -

K should firmly deny the debt in writing and state that H is responsible. Under no circumstances should K herself concede to this debt. A copy of this letter to be kept for at least 6 years.
The family to write to the catalogue and admit the debt on H's behalf, being quite open that H has fraudulently incurred the debt in K's name. Family to offer to settle the debt in full subject to K's name and credit record being cleared.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. Thankfully H is no longer there. There is talk of a restraining order so I don't think she will get access back to the house every again.
Though may be worth a NOC too0
