Buying flowers

I want to buy a bunch of flowers for someone as a thank you but I can't remember when I last bought flowers other than 3 bunches of daffs for a pound in Aldi and so on. Can anyone advise me of the best way of getting value?

I have sometimes been the recipient of flowers from online or big stores but although they come in a big box and you expect them to be great, I've never been that pleased, stems often broken, flowers bashed and withered, lots of fillers etc. Obviously I've never told the sender.

So I thought I'd go to a local florist - one of ours has an online shop but they seem incredibly expensive. A bunch of tulips for £25 for example. I thought I'd get something nice for around £15 but am obviously way out of touch.

If I go into the shop or ring up and collect later, they might ask me what I want, which flowers for example, and I have no idea. And what does hand tied mean? Is the alternative machine tied? Does it matter how they're tied as the bunch is pulled apart as soon as you get it home anyway?

Help!!! Am very lost with this so could really do with advice.

Thanks

Bunches.co.uk do fantastic flowers good prices and they last ages (often up to 2 weeks) plus the person gets a little box of nice chocolates with them for free

Also I think if you used the code RM10 you get 10% off at the moment.

They send via first class for free too. I don't use anyone else now only them.

They pack the flowers really well so are never broken and their customer service is great :T

another vote for bunches here :T. I recieved a bunch that lasted a month! The chocolates are a nice touch too. Their prices are very reasonable and they have discount codes most of the time.

If you want to go buy in store I always find sainsburys roses and tulips are good quality. They used to wrap them too at the customer services desk (not sure if they still do though). They also do large bouquets quite cheaply.
