Gyms in Belfast?

I know this topic has been done to death, but all the online info from MSE is a few years old.

I bought the 10 gym passes to LA Fitness on Groupon a wee while ago and, after working up the courage to go, loved it! Ended up only using 5 of them as I left it so late, but now I've been I'm gutted I didn't go earlier. I'd love to stay there, but the monthly fee is roughly £35 and it's just a bit too much at the moment.

Can anyone recommend a decent gym in Belfast that's not too expensive? I've heard mixed reports on Puregym - loads of cardio, not many weights machines/free weights, but open all the time, which is good. The swimming pool/sauna/steam room in LA Fitness was excellent, but they aren't essential for losing the spare tyre. I will miss the pool though.

Thanks for your advice!

Nathan

I think the best overall for facilities and price has to be Queens PEC but it is busy between 5-7 with a few minutes wait for the cardio machines. It's month by month contract and if you don't use the pool works out at £22 for graduates.

I had a contract once with LA fitness in the city centre. NEVER again. Puregym is OK but don't like paying for parking and not having the option of a swim.
    DW seems expensive.

Looking into the council run one out in the Robinson Centre in Castlereagh. Handy to me and the wife.

Do these ones do a pay-as-you-go style scheme were you pay when you arrive, as and when you need?

Personally can't really fault Pure Gym myself.

Another vote for Puregym. It is clean and open 24 hours. Parking is the only issue but I am usually lucky enough to park in the street for free after 6pm.

That FF offer was great, but if you look around you can pick up plenty more free goes, vouchercodes usually have a free 5 day pass for FF on their weekly email. I've been in better gyms, but for £0, it's hard to beat!

Is LA Fitness the one in Adelaide Street? Is it really only £35 a month? I couldn't find a price online and wasn't keen to go in, because I thought it would be at least £50 and they'd push me to sign up.

Oh they really really do push you to sign up. There's also a joining fee. It's very expensive.

We don't have much choice due to where we live, ideally I want somewhere within walking distance and Pure is just a bit too far away. As me and my OH both want to join and we'd need to go at alternating times due to the little one.

I'm not prepared to pay more than about £90 a month for both of us. I can get the Hilton gym cheaper than that, for both of us.

I had an induction on my first trip and they do push you to sign up there and then, but it's easy enough to say 'not now, thanks'. Yeah, they quoted me around that a month for a year's contract which in fairness wouldn't work out to be that expensive, given the what they have and provided you make use of it. I hear the one in Shaw's Bridge is a bit pricier though.

They have a two months free offer on at the moment and the website has a three day pass. It's well worth checking out. I can't fault it - facilities are excellent, friendly staff, not intimidating at all (once you're through the front door :P) and it wasn't ever that busy any time I was there.

That's great thanks. That's not too bad at all. It's close enough for me to walk, so no transport costs, so £35 is decent for city centre. Thanks.
