Tax on unpaid leave

Hi all,
I have asked my work if i can take 7 days unpaid leave in november. I am paid monthly on a salary basis.
Im now worried that they are going to deduct my days off after i have paid tax on my gross wage.. As this is what they have done in the past when i have had unpaid sick days.. (the deduction shows up in the deductions column on my payslip..
Is this right? If it is then surely im paying tax on days that i havent worked?
Please help!

They have deducted unpaid sick at NET or GROSS?
It should always be at GROSS so there is a less tax and ni deduction as you are not earning for the days not worked.0 -
This might sound stupid but..
I have my payments column with my gross..
Then i have a deductions column with my tax and NI and any other deductions, this is where my sick pay is deducted..
So im guessing ive been getting deducted at NET havent i? And thats whats worrying me about this unpaid leave for 7 days asive got a feeling they will do it the same as my sick days..
Its wrong though isnt it?!

Unpaid work is meant to be deucted at GROSS only things like season ticket loans are done after the NI and TAX have been deducted as they are taking that from the net salary they pay you, just like you would pay someone back from your salary.
I suggest you have a word with the payroll team at your work to see what they say.0 -
Thats what i thought, but because ive only ever had one sick day at a time i never thought anything of it, until i tried to work out how much i would loose if i was to take to it as unpaid..
My boss isnt the most approachable of people but i guess if hes wrong hes wrong..
So it should definitely be deducted from my gross and not after my tax etc..
Would it not effect my yearly salary Or anything like that?
I guess they could start deducting my annual leave couldnt they? But then its only 7 days so i wouldnt have though it would make much difference..
Sorry for the long posts, ive been looking up on it all day and got nowhere!

Well i think hes made the reduction at the rate of dividing my gross for the month by how many working days are in the month and then mulitplying that by how many days off i had..
I dont know what my daily rate is for definite.. I didnt even know how he worked it out until the other day.
