question about direct debit date for mortgage

i have a mortgage with the woolwich, my payments are direct debited on the 16th of every month. i rung up to ask if i could change the date as partner does not get paid till 23rd so it was not very convenient, they said u can only change the date by setting up a standing order. does anyone else do this or have the same problem with inconvenient dates? u can choose your own dates with any other bills .very annoying.

it could be a system/process issue on their side which doeant allow you to choose a dd date to your specific requirement.
Some lenders are more flexible than others. If you need to set up a standing order and they do not mind you cancelling the DD then thats good that they are trying to help but please be careful because if your interest rate increase and you do not alter your standing order, you may end up underpaying and ultimately be charged additional interest and get behind on your repaymentsI am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it.
