When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important!

Morning  thought I'd start us off! Haven't done it for a while & being so late was always the chance of a double post!

Sadly the glorious weekend is over :( but the sun is still shining and its only 7 days till we go on holiday :j so I can't see Monday getting to me this week :D

Things for today:
  • quick shower & tie my hair back rather than washing
  • all meals from stores
  • leave my purse at home so I don't run to the shop or bakery half way through the day
  • bike to work
  • check banking
  • text bff to say ankle still sprained so no running
  • sew a couple of things tonight
  • fish out of freezer for dinner
  • start packing - well some things like passport, papers etc
  • go to the beach after work?

Ok think that's my lot, better get myself ready! x

Morning all, and thanks to DNMS for starting us off today.

Lovely here again which makes it difficult to get into work mode. The sewing room overlooks fields and is a more tempting option but not today :(

    My list so far:
    • fed and watered chickens
    • breakfast from stores
    • checked banking
    • made packed lunches from BBQ left-overs

    I will also:
    • get lift to and from work
    • drink copious amounts of free coffee and water at work
    • keep an eye on surveys throughout the day
    • dinner from stores
    • DH to colour my hair tonight - saves a fortune at the hairdresser
    • get into sewing room at some point this evening

Actually, I have have 35 minutes before leaving the house so I may go and stitch for half an hour now and relax this evening!

    Have a good day,

I was on nightshift again last night so will be taking it easy today.

    - check banks
    - get a few hours sleep
    - meals from stores
    - kids have packed lunch
    - I spotted a McDonald's coffee cup in a bin and I took it out to get the coupon off it :o That's one coupon closer to a free coffee:T
    - get at least one load of washing on line
    - small shop

That's it for now, have a lovely day xx

What a beautiful morning. Hope everyone is well.

    Today I
    • Checked banking
    • Made PAD (CC is coming down gradually)
    • Took chicken out freezer and into fridge for tomorrows dinner
    • Walked kids to school
    • One wash out on the line, other one on at low and then going out too
    • input meter readings online
    • Noted annual usage for both gas and electic so will have a look on quidco later for better deal with cashback
    • updaated spending log for the weekend (very busy weekend and didn't do it once)
    • Opened sealed tins and counted holiday spends - £425.50 :T£325 was fom my £2 coins, the rest was from my 50p and 20p tin
Hoping that for the rest of the day I can:
    • walk to school to collect kids
    • take proof of new name to library and change my card details
    • hopefully get them to finally list my book as lost rather than have then keeping renewing it in the hope that I find it
    • tackle the ironing tonight
    • 'think' again about all the hard questions on the PPI reclaim form. They are so tricky, and they've sent both me and ex-H a form each but both have the other persons details on it.

    Debt-free and Proud!
Good morning! Popping back in after long absence.

Money things have been crazy casa NTBY - I was having a madly expensive month anyway having to replace my motorbike and having a long weekend in Z-bar, but was even worse as a few weeks ago my card was cloned and had to be cancelled :( Bank gave it back right away, but now I need to wait for a new card to be able to access my money and lord knows how long that will take. Have asked to be paid next month into my UGX account, which isnt good since I'll lose on the exchange rate and wont be able to put any in my other accounts, but hey ho. Hopefully an extra month will be plenty of time to get it sorted.

DNMS - Just went back to my thread on the families board and saw you had posted, bless you :) Was very sweet and has given me food for thought.

Stitchy - glad you enjoyed the sunny weekend, get any biking in?

    Today in MSE -

    - Bike everywhere I need to go
    - lunch provided by work
    - ring bank to check up on new card
    - meal plan for week and make a shopping list
    - split shopping list into things needed from the supermarket and things I can get at the much cheaper market stalls
    - meet potential new roommie
    - batch cook pumpkin soup and veg fritatta for tea (or maybe shakshuka, depends on how energetic I feel)
    - read up on TOR for consulting gig (every little helps...)
    - maybe gym in eve if not still sore from yesterday

    Good to be back :)

    Morning everyone

Had an unexpected spend on Saturday. I awoke at 6am to the sound of water. After a few minutes of trying to fathom out what it could be (I was alone in the house as the kids were at their mam's); I went downstairs to investigate, and found downstairs was like a sauna. A hot water pipe had fractured, and the kitchen was about 3-4 inches deep in water. The poor dog was almost having to swim, but fortunately the floor slopes slightly, and her bed is in the highest part, so she was still dry.

I've managed to replace the pipe, but it cost me about £35 in parts, as I found one or two other things that needed replacing too. At least I didn't have to pay for a plumber though!

Anyway, consequently, my planned day out on Sunday didnt happen, I just spent the day doing the garden, so had a NSD yesterday, though my shoulders are rather sore today!

Working away today til Wednesday, so made a salad with whatever was left in the fridge for lunch today, then I'll use my lunch allowance to buy non-perishable stuff to take home with me.

The car has gone in for its MOT while I'm away so hoping there's nothing too much wrong with it.

    Have a great day everyone.

Today I have sold the stepladder on gumtree for £15 and made lunch from scratch from things at the back of the cupboard (and little one liked it all). I managed to reclaim £12 in bank charges caused by my husband and talked to him about claiming his back and paying them money today to avoid future charges. I have managed to get some free toys off freecycle and have just got a message from a lady off gumtree wanting to buy some plants this evening. I'm going to list a few more things on gumtree now. I made some shortbread as we have nothing in the house really so that's something nice to have. Actual dosh in £15 so far today and the rest is saving money. I'm also about to hang the clothes outside to dry, no tumbledryer today!

    Debt-free and Proud!
    Hi all

Thanks DNMS for starting us off!
Congrats on all the bartering on Nemomum
Natlie - You must be so excited!!
Karb - You could have turned your kitchen into a swimming pool - free exercise! :money:

    Today I have / will:
    * Work
    * Checked bank, a bit tight, payday on Thursday and hoping I will be able to keep the £13 in there until then an make a little bit extra payment off the CC (such a nerd :rotfl:)
    * Been searching for free books for the kindle
    * Washing on and will be put in the sunshine to dry!
    * Found present for the OH for his bday for £40 rather than £200!!
    * About to start a Mr T shop online while dinner is in oven. Hoping if I do a bigger shop online will help me budget through the month (gotta be worth a try surely!)

Have been watching too many episodes of the good life and now longing for self sufficiency!! :D

    Have a good evening all!!

    S x
I have enough money for the rest of my life... as long as I never have to pay for anything again!
