Hi
We have cable tv at the mo, but just wondered if I could put my old sky digi box to some use. I still have the dish and wiring up, and the viewing card still in the box. Can you pick up all the freeview channels using this without subscribing?
thanks in advance
Maria

If you have Cable TV with Virgin (NTL/Telewest) you can get their Base pack for FREE if you already have your Phone with them
i.e. £11pm for Phone & TV0 -
The Sky equipment will recieve Freeview channels without a subscription or sky card, you will get all freeveiw channels except for Channel 4 and 5, if you want these channels as well then you will need to pay £20 for the Freesat card, once purchased this card lasts about 3 years.Bring on the Bling!0

I stopped the subscription to Sky last month but im still getting all the Freesat channels with the old card still in there so try setting it up first with the old card before you buy the Freesat card.Always looking for a bargain and to help0

AFAIK you will not need to spend £20 on Freesat if you still have your old card. If you hook up your kit and insert your card it should reactivate itself - worked for me. It wont give you any of Sky's subscription channels but will give you the Free to View and Free to Air channels.

Digital spy forums are a good place for info on this. Remember you will not get E4 for example so a freeview box may be the best way to spend that £20.0 -
freeview boxes are cheaper than the freecard0

You shouldn't need to purchase the free-to-view card if you still have your old viewing card. Leave it in for 24 hours with the digibox on and you should receive all BBC channels, ITV, Channel 4, five. You wont receive the same extra channels as you would with DTT 'Freeview'. Eg you wont get E4 or Film Four. If you want to get the correct ITV and BBC regions you will have to call Sky and submit your postcode."...IT'S FRUITY!"0

Have you tried it on Freeview,a loft aerial is ok for me.SurfBowlSC wrote: »Only if you have a TV Aerial that is satisfactorily pointed.
Our TV aerial is in the loft, so we'd need to pay for a new one to be fitted.ac's lovechild0 -
We cancelled sky 10 months ago, and have kept it installed. We receive more channels than freeview, but we don't get E4 or More 4.Kind words can be short and easy to speak, but their echoes are truly endless. ~ Mother Teresa0
