This may not be of any help to you but if your dress is quite simple and not a 'full on' wedding dress, don't tell them it's a wedding dress! My local dry cleaner was quoting me between £180 and £250. When I asked for a cost to clean a long ball gown it became £25. My dress wasn't a traditional wedding dress; it has lace up back, internal corsetry and a small train but no petticoats or layers (and is silver rather than white/ivory). But there shouldnt be any reason that a long silk dress in ivory couldnt be classed as a ballgown if you do have a more simple style dress0

I also had a simple-ish dress (it wasn't a heavily skirted one with trains etc) - Silk with chiffon & lace.My local cleaners charged me £80, which I thought was reasonable value.
Just keep looking out for small drycleaners to see what the best price is.0 -

My local branch of a national chain told me that as there is a military base nearby, they get a lot of "ball gowns & evening dresses" in for cleaning, and she was surprised how many are white or ivory0 -
I still need to do this so I'm not 100% sure this is correct.
Apparently Johnsons cleaners are quite cheap and if you join their priority club which costs £9 you can get 20% off. I think I worked it out to be about £80 in total.
My dress is too obviously a wedding dress for me to call it anything else. It has about 6 layers, loads of beading, ivory etc.0 -
I've just recently called the bridal shop where I purchased my dress from and they recommended Terrington Burchett - google it as I don't want to add a link (and have no links to them)! They sent my dress there (I bought a sample) for cleaning before our wedding and it came back looking great. Prices seem reasonable and they pack it in a box of your choice. Going to get it done soon - only got married last November, oops!0

We used a local company and they charged about £75 and managed to get out 99% of the red wine that she somehow had managed to get down the front and down the back, and on the train and down the side and down the otherside. I have to admit I didnt remember there being a red wine fountain at our wedding but after seeing her dress I realised there evidently was and I just didnt notice it.0

I only got mine done 2 weeks ago and I got married in October! My dressmaker said I should make sure I did it before too long to avoid it getting any bits of mould on it...had visions of green furry bits at the armpits and got it done right away then lol0
