We are currently doing well reducing our debt - helped by a PPI payout, but still have 2 credit cards with high aprs. I've been declined when I applied for a zero interest card in the past - I'm guessing due to the level of debt as I've never missed a payment and only had a couple of late payments around 18 months ago when my husband was redundant. No defaults, CCJs or arrears. I have cleared the card with the highest apr and closed the account and am paying as much as possible on the next highest. My question is, to improve my chancrs of being offered a zero balance transfer rate is it worth reducing my limit on this card as the balance reduces or does this have no impact? I have no intention if using the card again so not worried about not having access to the credit.
Current level of debt on record is £21,000 (joint debt) as part of our total debt is a loan from family which Experian have no knowledge of! Our combined annual salary is £71,000. The £15000 I have recently cleared from the debt is not yet showing on my credit file so I have no immediate plans to apply for a zero rate card yet.

Mj make sure your ratio is inline,
Creditiors dislike you to have more then 50% of you debt to salary. You've listed debt as joint however a credit card doesn't work on joint debt.
If you want the 0% card you need to reduce your debt and reduce available limits to you. Though there is no guarantee you will get accepted. With the lates it's going to show as a hiccup which will take time to reduce the impact on your credit rating0
