Building society have set up DD

I am still waiting on confirmation of my mortgage, but I have noticed that the building society have set up a direct debit from my bank account, no amount, term or start date as yet.
Is this normal for the lender to do or does mean that there is more of a chance of the mortgage being agreed (it is with the underwriters and we have been told we should know for definite by Tuesday)?

It's a sign of speedy administration on setting up direct debits.
