Hi all, My DD has saved £200 so far, and hopes to be able to buy an IPAD2 at Xmas if she's managed to save a bit more.
A friends DD came over the over day with her 'IPAD' which turned out to be a Yarvik Tablet priced at £160 (4GB version)
These are the specs for the 16GB version priced at £200 and from what I can see, pretty much is a match for IPAD 2.
Could you techies please give me some advice as to whether it is comparable? I can't seem to find any reviews other than those appearing on EBUYER, which are all positive.

I'd be interested too, just on the point of buying an Ipad.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
She needs to test-drive both products, and see which she prefers. I'm using an iPad 2 to type this reply with for example. Bear in mind the iPad 2 will have facetime as standard, plus the app store is just huge, compared to android. There's a 5 megapixel camera in iPad 2 your specs give a 2MP (the new iPad has an 8MP)
Personally, I think if she, goes down the android route, she will regret it.
Also if she has a recent HP printer, she can print wirelessly from the ipad using airprint0 -
Thanks for the info - Don't think that DD will be interested in facetime just yet, but just googled it, and it appears that there is now a similar app for android http://technorati.com/technology/android/article/google-follows-apple-gives-android-its/
I think that the price, together with the 2 year warranty is going to win!"Hope for the Best

Just for completeness - pretty much any app that exists on one platform also has an analogue on the other.0

I just find that people like iOS (iPad) better. Lots of techies like Android as you can pretty much do what you want without jailbreaking.0

I agree with Clive. I have to be familiar with as much tech as possible for my work and have an iPhone and Android tablet. I use my iPhone mostly due to the fact that Android feels like it's always playing catchup.
I love my Android tablet and the small amount of apps I do use on there are brilliant (and I prefer those on there than the iApp equivalents) but as much as I love them they're always arriving just that little bit too late for what I need.
Go for a test drive and try out as many features as you can.0 -
I think the Android pad is way better, but I am not an Apple person.. but all kids like the Ipad, and with I messages they get to text for free... so from a kids point of view... I would get an I pad2... also android tablets lose value very quick and Ipad never does...0
