I'm also suffering from bites and can't seem to find anything that works. I currently what looks like a large purple bruise on my leg about 8 cm in diameter with the bite spot in the middle. Around this is another ring about 3 cm where my leg is bright red. I was bitten Wednesday night  by Thursday evening around the bite I had about a 20cm circle that was bright red and burning up. I found that ice helped and numbed it. However, I'm taking anti histimes, I have hydrocortisone, antihistan cream, witch hazel and calendula creams which someone recommended to me once, a bug roll on stick and none of these are working! I now have surgical spirit which should be applied as soon as you notice the bite so I'll try that next time.

I was bitten by mozzies in Indonesia last year and that was no where near as bad as whatever has bitten me here. It's really odd as I've only had reactions like this for the last 2 years. I'm going to try taking vitamin B too from now on but I can't face marmite.

I rarely get bitten (and am a Marmite lover!) but my husband and son both suffer terribly with bites at this time of year.

You can buy citronella oil from most chemists and it does seem to repel the worst of the mozzies. My son used to hate it because "it makes him smell girly" but I mix it with some aqueous cream to dilute it a bit and he will put up with that.

I don't get attacked by mozzies but wasps love me. I don't flap about or panic when I see a wasp but one landed on my little finger on Saturday and I just let it crawl about. It still stung me!

Agree about marmite - give that a whirl.

I also get eaten alive and have had 30-50 bites on each leg like jenniewb (under my knees).

Sometimes giving them a short sharp slap works! If nothing around to put on them, give that a go.

I've got a horrendously itchy one on my arm right now.

Flea bites tend to be tiny red itchy dots, not like the big itchy mozzie bites. Plus you often get a little group of them together.

I always have a really bad reaction to bites, the best stuff I got was from a chinese herbalist it was crushed pearl cream there was a brand name but I dont remember it and on the back it said "apply to skin for queeny niceyness" god knows what was in it! £8 for a little pot but it goes a long way and works wonders, I had one on my arm a few days ago but it looked like a bad burn popped some of this stuff on and within a few hours it had gone down loads.
