Hi,

I have been really ill over the last year with mental illness. I have fallen behind with my payments for a car loan i got for 5 years in Jan 2006. I have now retruned to work but still have mortgage arrears etc.

I rang BCT to ask for a settlement figure as my Dad offered to looan me some money to clear it- i thought it was about £1000.00 to my horror they have added £562b in charges!!

Anyway i have asked for a discounted settlemnet an dthey are going to call me on Monday.

has anyone had any success with this? and realistically what sort of settlemnt do you think they would accept?

Read your contract with them and see what charges and penalties they are allowed to apply and/ or ask them for a breakdown. YOu can ask them to be reasonable, but as a commercial venture they will generally stick by their contract.
