Hi,
Our video has just broken. We already have a dvd player - just a cheapy one - but need a video for the kids videos they already have.
We wanted to update our dvd to a DVDrecorder but now are wondering if its worth getting one machine to do both. I've seen them in shops for about £230.
Have any of you got one at home and think its fab? Or have you bought one thats rubbish and we should steer clear of? Any tips welcome please.

I haven't got a combined DVD recorder and video recorder, but separate boxes. I'd just say that I am thoroughly converted to the DVD recorder. Ours is a Panasonic and you can watch one thing while recording another, or start watching something before it's finished recording. A real boon if you know the MIL is going to phone, or you've got to go and run the taxi service. Also MUCH easier to find the programme you want!
In general I prefer separate boxes, space permitting, because if you get combi units one bit is bound to stop working before the others do.Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
www.richersounds.com have one on offer for just around £60. It's a Toshiba and looks really nice. We have a store near to us but unfortunately our furniture to house the video etc etc is all made to measure and this is too high to go into the space. Otherwise I would have bought one:(.
My son however bought a DVD recorder from there and was really pleased. He said the prices and staff were very good. Might be worth looking at site?0 -
We bought ours from Richer Sounds and we liked them. They tried but not very hard to sell us a machine costing £100 more: pointed out its advantages but admitted they weren't that great ...Signature removed for peace of mind0
