Bankruptcy over paying it off
When my marriage split up, my ex went bankrupt for £70K and I paid my share of debts of £25K with much hardship and it took 6 years. How I regret not going bankrupt!
Just checked out getting a loan of only £3k to see how my credit is and find I can only get loan for 12.6% interest. Fill in the ex's details, he can get 6.4% interest.
I think he has taken out loan in my name as I am getting bad letters from the bank for non payment of a loan in his name but my address. Bank will do nothing and tell me to ignore it. The Financial ombudsman say there is 4 week backlogue of complaints, police aren't interested. It wasn't worth going down the honest route and paying it all back. My advice to anyone would be to go bankrupt from the start!

Yes but you can sleep at night!
Drop him in it by simply writing to the bank stating facts - keep emotion out of it.
By the way 12.6% is not a bad rate for a loan of £3k.
To get the best rates you probably need a loan of £7.5k or more.0 -
What makes you think he has got a loan out in your name?
You say there are letters coming to your house but addressed to him. That sounds like a loan in his name - not yours. He may have used your address, or they may just be searching for him at any known addresses.
What makes you think he can get a loan of 6.4%?
If you have filled in all his accurate details on a loan application and carried that through to the stage where you get an acceptance and an APR given - then it sounds like it is you applying for credit in his name, not vice versa.
Even if you had no intention of taking out a loan in his name - you will still made a fraudulent loan application which will appear on his credit file.
By the way - the best way to check 'how your credit is', is to get copies of your credit files from the 3 credit reference agencies. If you haven't filed a notice of disassociation to dissociate from ex this might well be why debt collection letters are coming to your address.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
I would avoid making credit applications on "behalf" of your ex LOL"We want the finest wines available to humanity, we want them here, and we want them now!"0
