What happens now please ?

My husband and my BR ended on the 24th May 2012 after a year. I have looked on the Insolvency service record and although they say it has been updated, it still shows bankrupt. I have some questions please to ask.

1. Could any of you tell me what happens now. Do i get a letter saying we are discharged?

2. What do i fill in on forms when they ask am i BR

3. Do i write to Equifax to get rid of all the creditors or is that after 6 years.

Some information i would like to pass on to newbies or anyone having trouble selecting bank accounts etc, for the past year and a half have had no trouble using Co-op bank. You can do online banking and direct debits etc. They have been very good, easy online banking and good statements.

Some more information, although i need to try and sort my very poor credit file out. I got an online catalogue "Fashion World" with £150 credit limit. I decided to order out of it and pay the full balance which i have done.

I have two pre paid credit cards one with Fair FX and Kalixa which i have used several times with no problem.

We have come a long way in a year and want to thank everyone who has given advice big or small. Without this forum i still would be with my husband in £89K of debt. You all have given us both a new lease of life and good things to look forward to. We are in the process now of saving for our 25th wedding anniversary, yes saving:Tand i love it.

I love you all

    1. No you are just automatically discharged, have you clicked on your name to go into the file where it should show your dischare date

    2. If it asks "are you bankrupt" you say no, If it asks "have you ever been bankrupt" then you answer yes

    3. have a look at the credit clean up sticky

Thank you, yes it states on the insolvency register that our discharges are the 24th May 2012, i just thought Birmingham would write to tell me so for proof.

I have looked at the sticky on clean up briefly thank you. The way i read it, to start the clean up was after 6 years, not when my discharge date was up. But as i say, not had chance yet to understand it fully.

you can start it before the 6 years, but best to leave it a few months first as some debts will update automatically, then you just need to focus on the ones that have not

If you can print out some copies of your discharge notice from the IS website, if not then ask the OR very nicely if he can write a letter saying you are discharged or you can pay around £70 for a certificate from the court you went BR in.
