I contacted the DVLA Medical Group and they said it's the top letter you need to be able to read. So if it is the top letter then I can do that0

Makes me glad I passed my test back in '87. No need to form-fill or take any more tests in order to drive a 7.5 Tonner, ).
I passed on 19/01/97
They stopped giving you C1/D1 on the 01/01/97
Luckily i'm getting it through work, so not costing anything, but still a right hassle0 -

I trained with Firstbus back in 1999 and the bus was a manual, well it was a coach to be honest. I never drove a manual one after that as the rest of the fleet were automatics.
Good luck!
Don't forget though that even if the buses are all automatics, the vans they use for changeovers may not be.Ditch 100 in January Challenge 100/100

Just got back from my assessment day. I passed the Highway Code and Maths test. I have a driving assessment and interview in July. They do not ask you to do an eye test without glasses on and all of the transit Vans they do the assessments in are Automatic.0

Glad it went well. Hope it continues.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.
I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

I'd be ok with a Transit van. I own a great big LDV Convoy and feel more confident driving that, than driving a car.
I would have thought DVLA would require a smaller letter than the great big one at the top of the chart. We had a large truck sitting in the delivery zone yesterday and from about 30 metres, I could read the number plate with ease.
The only thing now stopping me going for a bus-driver job is the lack of trainee positions in my area. All the companies want experienced drivers.
Also, might struggle with Highway Code as haven't even read it since passing my test 20-odd years ago.Never Knowingly Understood.

The Highway Code and Theory book (updated version) every driver should have anyway and you should flick through it every so often to refresh your mind. Thats what I do. Just read it like you would a book or get someone to open a page at random and ask you questions.0
