Hi, hopefully someone can help. Looking at ways to cut the budget down. I always use persil colour liquid for washing my coloureds. Does anyone know of any good alternatives, ie recommend any supermarkets own brand. Any help gratefully received.

I always find that if I buy loose powder or liquid I put a bit much in.
If I buy the liquid capsuls or powder tablets it goes much further. So thats my way of doing it, portion control. Now if I could just do that with food..........:D0 -
To be honest (and this is from someone who sorts her washing by washing items with lumps of mud/animal hair/other 'biological' stains together!) I have found one of the best washing powders is Tesco Value, you know, the stripey one! It's better than the cheap Lidl one I'm stuck with at the moment (all hail bulk purchases!), it makes the clothes smell lovely and you really don't need much.
To keep clothes bright I often add a small dash of Vanish Oxy Action powder - not very OS but it's really good stuff.0 -
Well I use the home made gloop for light coloureds and woollens - cannot get cheaper than that. For the odd stain, I spray with ace bleach decanted into a spray bottle. Or on the odd occasion Superdrugs bio stain remover about £1.09 last time I purchased it. I too use the cheapo powder. I am currently using Morrisons as thats where I shopped recently.Grocery Challenge £139/240 until 31/01

Aldi coloured liquid is excellent. Much cheaper than Persil too - takes out all the 'baby stains' on babyburd's clothes and smells nice and fresh too.0

I use Asda colour liquid, gets ALL marks out of clothes, they have recently increased the price though to £2.39,this week I bought Lidl's Maxtraat colour liquid £1.98,that works just as well,so I may start buying that instead.Debt at highest £102k

If you wash your coloureds inside out, that can help to keep the colour brighter longer.
Washed inside out, it stops the visible part of the fabric rubbing against other fabrics.
Line dried inside out, stops the sun from bleaching the colour out.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no: 203.0 -

I get big 5 litre containers of laundry liquid from Faith in Nature (free delivery if you order 3), although I get x1 and a 5 litre dishwasher liquid x1 and a 1 litre washing up liquid x2 to make up enough for free delivery. One 5 litre container lasts for months as you only need a wee bit."The happiest of people don't necessarily have the
