You can look up the firm or adviser there. It should show a list of permissions (although older firms may not have this showing as it wasn't always available on the website and the FSA haven't updated it retrospectively)

Typically, you would get the solicitor dealing with the trust and the adviser dealing with the investment to place within the trust. IFAs under standard authorisation are not allowed to recommend AIM investments. Some solicitors can hold authorisation though. However, you should clarify the status of the person you are calling a financial adviser to find out what type of adviser they really are.

This could all be genuine but there is enough info here to put you on guard (such as being told its low risk when its high).
