My ovaries are playing up. Googled myself into a stupidity fit. Bloating, tender, back, abdominal and groin pain. Wound up having monthly ultrasounds and found out that there are cysts that they are monitoring, oh "and by the way you have Kidney Stones".

Or in the words of one ultrasound tech, "if you can grow cysts, you still have function ovaries!" Just what every 53 yo wants to hear

Please don't panic! I know how scary it can be. I was diagnosed with PCOS whilst on holiday in the USA (was bleeding in between periods). With the majority of people it doesn't appear to be a major thing - worst thing it's done with me is throw my hormones completely off-kilter leaving me with excess testosterone and extra hair growth as a result, which, while being a major pain in the backside, isn't all that serious in the grand scheme of things!

There are online forums out there for PCOS sufferers and I'm sure if you posted on there, people would be happy to share their experiences :)

I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was 17 I'm now 23, it's fine until you want a baby but if you don't have children the worst thing that can happen is that you have to have IVF but it is usually free on the nhs so it's ok, I'm currently on clomid to help me ovulate but there is a range of issues PCOS mine is just mainly secondary fertility as I have my first son at just 16 just struggling now to have a second.

Although I never had what you have PCOS comes in all shapes and sizes so don't freak out.

Facebook, if you are on it has some amazing PCOS support pages that are private so family/friends can't view them which is a god send!
