Acquisition and contract

My company has been made bankrupt and its assets (including myself) have been acquired by another company.
We have been received assurances via email that contracts will be sent, and have been paid our monthly salary but have not received contracts for x months now.
What is our legal status? Does it depend on the number of months since the acquisition?
Does receiving the email or the salary means that the previous contract is still valid?
Can I resign and leave immediately?

Your previous contract is valid until you are told otherwise, from day one - nothing to do with the amount of time that has passed. And no you can't just resign and leave immediately. Well you can, but there might be consequences.0
