If there was no business here there wouldnt be any advisers either. Why are you here? Probably the same reason as all of us. There are probably advisers who cheat and PM people after they have asked a question. There are probably advisers who dont declare that they are advisers and so on. You will get disagreements between advisers but as long as they conduct themselves in an ethical manner there is not a problem as the people asking the questions can make their own mind up whose answers they like bestI like to give people as many choices as possible to do what I want them to. I don't know if I am the only one but it looks like commission hungry mortgage advisors on here are looking for business, after reading the code of conduct and if I understand the sites ethics correctly mortgage brokers should not be looking for business via this site, looks like the best way forward would be to do some mistery shopping on the site to see who takes the bait :rotfl:
advice is free via this site just be careful not to accept the bait!
And you are?
Likely, you will be another one of the brokers who come on the site, but only stop for a few weeks when you realise you wont get leads in this manner.
Come back and undermine brokers who try to help others when you've been around longer than five minutes and actually put some value into the forum.I am a Mortgage Adviser
You should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. This signature is here as I follow MSE's Mortgage Adviser Code of Conduct. Not getting on my high horse here and I know it wasn't directed at me but I disagree with this.
I have never accepted business on here. I am here as an adviser but on an off duty capacity. I will give information to people that want some help - not just because I can get some personal gain from it somewhere along the line. There are probably advisers who cheat and PM people after they have asked a question. That is true, there will be people lurking and I think that if anybody has received any approaches in this manner we should start a "name and shame" thread.
This forum is for consumers ultimately, not as a feeding place for hungry brokers. I took a break from the forum because there were a few individuals always questioning the role of brokers on this site and whilst it is not against forum rules for brokers to accept business, I do believe that you may have potrayed that this is the only reason us brokers contribute - which I do not believe to be the case.
I just hope you haven't brought yourself into question by admitting that you are only here to gain business. It was probably not your intention for it to be potrayed this way, I know but as I have read it this way and it could be how others may too which is a shame because from what I have seen, you have made some good contribution to the site.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it. I have been involved in many debates on this forum and feel that it is unfair for posters to continue to make accusations against reputable brokers who post and I direct those who do so to the code of conduct.
The statements and responses have been said many times before and without real evidence those new to this forum should read through previous posts and wait until they have a feel for the ethics before making comments.
I now understand how brokers feel who are trying to give assistance and have to respond to other posters making unfounded accusations.
I am not a broker ,but I do take an interest in how this forum operates, and I see established brokers denigrated by another flow of new posters with the same arguments,a code of conduct was set up by Martin and his team with the assistance of brokers and non brokers to create an atmosphere of positive information sharing ,so shall be get away from name calling and concentrate on why the majority of brokers post to help and develop their own knowledge .To be happy you need to make someone happy.0 -
I have also noticed that some brokers are not using the correct format for the signature as stated in the code of conduct. To be happy you need to make someone happy.0

I agree though getting the signature right was not the easiest thing in the world for a non computer specialist. Homer is also right. I did not mean to put any one down I was just being honest as I see things. Yes advice is given freely but if a poster likes the advice he is given he can contact the adviser if he wishes. Occasionally brokers will disagree then its up to the poster to decide whose advice he likes best.I like to give people as many choices as possible to do what I want them to. you do not need to have an agreement in principal to bid on a property0
-
True but you dont half look a prat when you find you cant get a mortgage after you have had a bid acceptedWho I am is not important. What I do is.0
-
True but at least there isnt all this pressure to have it by monday. Even with an agreement in principal the buyer could still get turned down after they had their bid accepted and thus be called, in your words, a "prat".0

true but i think the monday the OP was referring to has gone and yes getting an AIP is not a guarantee of not looking like a prat but it helps.Who I am is not important. What I do is.0
