hi there,
hopefully someone can give me some advice in regards to a property that I own.
the situation is i have a joint mortgage with my ex partner, i have not lived in the property or paid anything towards the mortgage for three years, all the time the property has been on the market with little to no interest, the property is valued at £76000 and has £68000 left to pay off.
the thing is I want my name off of this mortgage, I am wondering if there is any way around this? our the house sold a dont want anything from the property a just want to get on with my life.
To my knowledge she has been paying interest only payments for the past 5-6 months which will finish shortly the situation will be reassed by the mortgage company (allience and leicester).
also the property has been with the same estate agents would i seem vesible at the length of time the property has been with them to try changing estate agents to try and sell the property?
thanks in advance
glenn
p.s sorry if ive carried on abit

Nothing you can really do til it's sold. I presume your ex cannot take the mortgage over fully on her income? The J is a Financial Advisor-This site doesn't check anyone's status and as such any posts on here are for information and discussion purposes only and shouldn't be seen as financial advice. if it's not selling it's probably too expensive; reduce the price0

the mortgage company wont let her as she doesnt earn enough, well saying that she didnt earn enough she earn nothing now to my knowledge, so god knows how she is paying the mortgage.
she wont reduce the price as she has £7000 deposit in the property from her mother when we bought the house and she wants this back even tho i put 8k into the house on doing things up.
If i took her to court would she be made to reduce the price of the property? personally a think its 2-4k over priced but she wont listen
going to see citizens advice and a solicitor next week0 -
you can get an order for sale through a court but youll have to pay a solicitor to handle this for you and its not the cheapest process.
if your ex is obstructive throughout the process she may well have to cover your fees.
before you go down this route why dont you discuss it with her? it would be a shame to drag through the courts if you dont need to. is the house in good condition? could you rent it out?0 -

Tell her that the lender may well seek repossession. So she may well end losing a lot more if action isn't taken now. As the matter will be taken out of her hands.0
