morning,
look, its baby steps, you've only just had LBM.
have you actually got enough for a train ticket?anything else essential you need to get before thursday?
would OH help you until then,he knows you are ready to tackle it now?
don't panic!
once you have done your SOA (only when you are ready)
everyone will be able to offer more help.
please enjoy your day,you are not aloneLIVE SIMPLY * GIVE MORE * EXPECT LESS * BE THANKFUL0 -

Thanks Asparagus1968.
I only need a train ticket and have rustled up enough for that now. I really want to get all this sorted out and as each day passes I hope I am getting nearer to posting my SOA. I know I will get lots of help with it, so not sure why I feel so nervous about it. Thanks for all the support so far. It really has helped!LBM - 18/5/120 -

Ok, so I haven't quite got round to posting my SOA yet, but I am definitely getting nearer to it. I got paid today and have my envelopes all ready and am keeping my receipts.
I have 4 credit cards, all pretty much maxed out to be honest, One of them in particular started life as a Citibank card. It then became Opus and they regularly kept increasing the interest rate. I was always too afraid to cancel it "just in case". I am paying 31% at the moment!! (I know, crazy!!!).
Well tonight I came home to another letter saying that they are putting the interest up to 35%, so first thing in the morning I am phoning to cancel and remain on the current rate. Wish I had done it ages ago. On the other hand, I feel like this is finally some progress for me and I really have had my LBM!! What a fool I have been :mad:LBM - 18/5/120 -
Hi Kitty
well done for coming on - you are definitely in the right place !!
It's a massive thing to admit you are in debt and when you first write it all down - it's almost like going into shock (well if it's the level that mine is)
I would say this - it's baby steps. Making small changes everyday - little things like taking cash to supermarket - if you don't have enough put something back etc. Little changes are much easier & before you know it - you will be doing it automatically
As long as you and your family are well , fed & have a roof over their heads - everything else comes after that.
Great news that you have such an understanding husband - that will be worth a lot to you going forward.
Good luck - I will read & see how you are getting on.

Hey everyone
Thought I would update you on how things are going...
I put some things on eBay when it was free listings for the Jubilee weekend and I have made £50!! I can't believe it. And that was just for some clothes that have been lurking in my wardrobe that will never see the light of day again. I never thought for a minute I would make that much. I can see how people say this money saving thing is addictive. Definitely going to get some more stuff together to list!
I am still keeping my spending diary and I am more cautious than I have been in the past. Also keeping all my receipts so I can go through everything at the end of the month and see if I can make any more savings on the shopping front.
Also phoned the CC company and refused to let them jack my rate up any more and closed the account. A month ago I would not even have entertained that idea, but it felt good closing it.
Still intending to post my SOA at some point. Watch this space........ :-)LBM - 18/5/120 -
£50 wow that's brilliant
Looking forward to the SOA as your DFD is the same as mineDEBT FREE AND PROUD'Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt'0 -
Good luck with your journey, I don't post often these day's but I always hang around the DFW board have been in debt but not now.
Anyway after been made redundant got another job now, it made me realise how close we all are to getting into debt rapidly, and having been on both sides of the coin sometimes feel it's hard staying on the debt free side.
There are many posters on these boards who give you that little ray of hope when life seems bleak, so as I said good luck with your journey and I'll read along, even if I don't always post.0
