Light in the box????

Afternoon folks!

Well have set a date for August next year after a 4 year (yes that's right) engagement.

We have ideas on how we want the wedding to be but no actually plans set as yet.

Obviously being a woman I have started looking at dresses online and have found some super cheap but gorgeous dresses on Light in the box.com and wondered if anyone had any expreiences of them (good or bad)?

We are on a very stict budget so trying to keep costs down as much as poss!

Thanks  xx

Congratulations on setting the date! :T

There is another thread here that might be useful:

It is an old thread, but has been updated with some recent experiences, I think the overall experience is not good I'm afraid...e.g. People being charged ridiculous customs charges as they come from China.

I'm sure there will be some other ladies along with great ideas to help you find a dress within your budget. Good luck and enjoy the planning! :)
  • Thanks :) and thanks for that link, I'll have a good look through, I am wary about ordering from China but thought I would try and get some ideas off people.
Looking forward to sharing my upcoming planning and stresses with you all!

If you are willing to risk it and expect a hefty customs charge at your door, then its worth a risk.

Personally I wouldn't even buy from them again. Paid more in customs than we did for the actual veil and the quality wasn't that great.

I know of 2 brides who ordered their bridesmaid dresses from light in the box and they were very happy with the dresses, but they were lucky they didnt have expensive custom charges added.

The thing to watch out for on the chinese sites is the pictures they use are normally the original designers photos, and the actual dress you receive is a copy. If the dress have detail on such as beading you may find that the chinese copy uses cheaper materials, like my finds dress was meant to have beaded detail on the skirt, but her chinese copy had sequins on, so she paid a dressmaker to change them.

Oh and we would have been engaged 6 and half years by the time we get married!:D

If you are going to order a dress I would probably try on a few styles first to be sure what suits you.

I was on a tight budget for my wedding dress and was thinking I would have to go down the china route, but I went to a sample sale and found my lovely sample dress for £200 (plus about £80 to get cleaned), and I love it, so it may be worth keeping an eye out for local sample sales or if you find a specific dress people on here may be able to find you a pre loved dress.
