Best way to check credit rating?

Hi there

I was wondering the best way to check my credit rating...I have used Experian before but I am unsure if there is another company I can use that won't charge too much or one that I won't get tied into?

Thank you.

There are three consumer credit reference agencies in the UK: Experian, Equifax and Callcredit. All three hold credit reports for you and these usually differ as some lenders only share data with one or two agencies.

You can order a statutory £2 one-off credit report from all three agencies' websites or they have other services, such as regular subscriptions, available with additional benefits that may come with free trials etc.

I use noddle (callcredit), as its free for life. I'm not saying its the bee all and end all, but it gives you a good idea

  • Hi, I use noddle and as the above poster says, it isn't amazingly detailed but it gives you a rough idea and its totally free. I also sign up to experian when I can get it for 30 days free, and just cancel it before I get charged.
