Olympic Ticket-royal mail redirect didn't work

I received an email and text yesterday to say that royal mail were unable to deliver my olympics tickets. Both messages said a card would be left by royal mail.
Went home, there was no card.
Called royal mail this morning. Royal mail delivered to my old address even though I set up a redirect.
If there was somebody home at the old address they would have my ticket.
As it happens, customer services were quick to organise redelivery to new address but are royal mail checking for id when they deliver tickets? I guess not!

have you ever had to produce ID for a delivery at your door?0 -
Almost exactly the same has happened to me.
Where our stories differ, is that someone was at my old home and signed for the tickets.
Now i have stolen tickets. JOY0 -

If you contact LOCOG the tickets can be cancelled and replaced. All tickets carry a unique barcode so they will be able to void the old ones.
This of course is assuming that the people at your old address are dishonest, they could realise that the item is not for them and give them back to RM to forward on to you.0 -

I've been in contact with RM already - they're going to try and retrieve the tickets for me.
If they fail, they said they'll give my details to LOCOG who'll get in contact with me.
I'm not worried.0 -
Royal Mail redirect does not work with all post. For example items from the DVLA are not redirected, this is to try and ensure they hold the correct address or find out they dont when the post is returned 'no longer at this address'. It applies to other items as well.IT Consultant in the utilities industry specialising in the retail electricity market.

If it was the case with the Olympic tickets (which it isn't, having spent a number of times on the phone with them) then LOCOG and Royal Mail would be in the !!!!!! given that's been their advice for the last six months.
My tickets have finally been retrieved from my old address and are on their way. Apparently.
Compensation claim on it's way tomorrow :rotfl:0 -
