Getting Sauce Out the Bottle!!

I'm hoping for a bit of help :rotfl:

A recipe has called for Jack Daniels BBQ sauce (I'm making pulled pork, yum) we've had some in the cupboard for ages but we've never used it because we can't get the stuff out of the bottle! It's a glass bottle like ketchup and it just doesn't seem to budge.

Seeing as I need quite a lot of it I'm dreading trying to get it out and considering just buying a different BBQ sauce. Anyone got a good way of getting it out? :o

Thanks :D

Add a drop of vinegar or lemon juice to it, shake it up and that should loosen it.
If that doedn't work, try standing it in a bowl of hot water; just think of sauces setting when they go cold and "melting" when you reheat them.

Take the bottle out of the fridge.

Once it is at room temp' take the lid off and heat gently in a pan of water.

Or put in the micro and blitz for 30 seconds then leave to sit.

I've noticed things like Marmite and peanut butter are easier to use at room temp' so tend not to keep them in the fridge.
    I'm not that way reclined

Thank you! It hasn't been in the fridge so will try the water thing :) I don't understand why sauces are still put in those bottles!

When I've been really desperate I've done this to the top of the bottle:

Then just scooped out with a spoon!

Even simpler....take the bottle out of the fridge & turn it upside down, standing it on the cap end, leave for a few hours, then all the sauce will drip down to the neck area & you can get it it out with a knife...
    Simples!!!!

Would tipping the bottle upside down, sticking a bendy straw right into it and blowing work?! Not very hygienic obviously, and potentially quite messy!!

I would just stick a knife in the bottle neck and give it a wiggle about, always seems to loosen the sauce.

    BARBEQUE SAUCE

This is a simple, yet versatile barbeque sauce. You can marinade things in it, cook things in it, dip things in it or put it on things.

    INGREDIENTS

    2 tablespoons of butter
    1 tablespoon of sugar
    2 tablespoons of brown sauce
2 drops of Tabasco chilli pepper sauce
    3 tablespoons of tomato ketchup
    1 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce

    METHOD

Put the butter and sugar into a saucepan on a low heat. Melt the butter and sugar. Stir frequently to stop it sticking.

Remove the pan from the heat.

Add all of the other ingredients. Mix thoroughly.

    ADDITIONS & ALTERNATIVES

Add 1 tablespoon of mushroom ketchup at the same time as the other sauces. Mushroom ketchup is a runny brown liquid, obviously made from mushrooms. It’s available in supermarkets.

    TIPS

This will keep in the fridge for 48 hours.

Cheers Stephen,I also add some balsamic to mine,I find it gives a depth to the flavor as well as a caramel sweetness.

Have just had a complete fit of the giggles on reading this (sorry :rotfl:). It was the mental picture of what the OP's face might look like afterwards if the blowing was vigorous. Reminded me of what happened the first time I used an electric blender for soup. I didn't realise you couldn't fill it right up to the top. I looked like Fungus the Bogeyman (the soup was watercress), and my kitchen looked like his habitat.
