Hi,

Just wondered if anyone knows any good niche IT job sites and how much experience you would need to take up analyst position.

Thanks for all your help!

Impossible to say. Which branch of IT are you looking at, what are you qualified for and how much experience so you have?

If it is an analyst position there are really two types of analysts - number crunchers and also those that have more commercial knowledge and background and therefore can interpret and present the numbers as well as putting them together.

I work with 4 Business Analysts who all are very intelligent and love number crunching and excel macros!

Try www.analystjobs.co.uk as a starting point - I am sure there are junior positions available.

Analysts, even just within the IT field, come in many flavours depending on your skills/ experience.

If you are interested in being a BA you generally will need a good working knowledge of the industry/ area you want to serve, ideally from a range of companies/ roles.

If you are wanting to be a DA then you need to show you have strong SQL skills at a minimum and ideally some modelling work

If you want to be a SA then you need support/ developer experience in the specific softwares that you are initially going to be working on.

If you want to be a Process Analyst (not normally an IT role but occasionally) then a background in operations teams, ideally leading teams, proposing/ rolling out operational change

Jobserve is probably one of the best IT job boards, Monster is ok but definitely second to Jobserve
