I dont know what to do!
I started a new job last week and i cant stand the work, it is so manual/process driven and boring. I get on fine with the people and everything else about it is ok but its the work which i dread doing for any period of time.
However i am 26yr graduated with a good degree, but have been made redundant after 2yrs in my first role and over the last few years only had temp positions in Finance and this is a permanent role so have 3/4 jobs on my CV. There are hardly any perm roles out there as iv been trying for ages so i dont know whether to stick it out or leave and keep it off my CV, people will say look for a new job while your there, but it would be difficult to explain why im leaving and attending interviews would be hard.
Plus we have to work all bank holidays.
The role is in the same industry i have always been in, but this position is just manual and tedious and didnt realise it would be this bad. ALso leaving would mean moving back home (to another city) with my parents until i find something else..

            You have two options.
Leave and move back in with your parents why you search for work
Or suck it up. As you already said the people and atmosphere are good so there are a lot worse jobs out there.
I know I'd suck it up because at the end of the day I always feel better working then being jobless for months and months.
It may not be the advise you were looking for but you've already given your options. You just need to pick the one you'd prefer.0

well ultimately all you can do is draw up the pros and cons, it is your decision, no one here can make it for you!
When you say manual, do you mean labour or do you mean systems (e.g. spreadsheets) are not as automatic as you would like them?
Many people have to work Bank Holidays - there is no saying the next job wont have same requirement.0

I'd try and stick it out for a year but keep your eyes open, and save, save, save. I think you need a deadline to keep motivated. Maybe try and work out a bit of a life plan and see how to make the job fit that, so the job is important but doesn't define how you feel about yourself.
I moved back with family for a period when I was a bit older then you. It was depressing.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0

Manual as in spreadsheets/systems, having to follow checklists, audits etc. Its not an easy admin job but the manual nature is mentally draining.
@whitewing: my life plan is just to get my own place and build a life around work, but not until im in a stable job.
I guess it depends on how much value i place on each pro e.g. having money/employment v cons e.g. moving back home (which wouldnt be too bad), having to spend hours searching and 99% of leads = deadends...
guess i will give it another few weeks and decide..0

Sorry to hear you not enjoying your new job.....however...it is early days so try and give it a go. Is there room for development? Are there any roles within the Organisation you can work towards?
I agree with Whitewing, a plan is what you need.
I think that it being a permanent position and getting along with your co-workers would make it bearable whilst you still look for something more suitable, but ultimately only you can make the decision that it right for you.
Give it a bit of time to see if things settle and if not then your decision will be easier. I wish you luck x0

Personally, it sounds like to me you are getting invaluable experience.
Being able to deal with spreadsheets and develop the skills around them will hep you become a better accountant (assuming that's what you want to be).
To many finance professionals out there who can't work with spreadsheets and it holds them back in being great at their jobs.
When you eventually move on, you'll look back at this as good training and preparation, I reckon.0

Hey it's only been a week, keep your chin up.
It's always easier to find another job when you are working (s*ds law) so even if you have to do 6 months you will get so much more experience than you can get from college/uni.
As above it is your decision, but please think carefully, at least you have a job.
 Best wishes and good luck.

can you look for positives - knuckle down, excel at it, ask for extra work, shine, then look/ask for internal promotion...

I think this post sums it up perfectly.
As others have said suck it up or if you really feel that you can't carry on then give up and join the other 3 million people in the job centre.Estate Agent, Web Designer & All Round Geek!0

A week is hardly anything, so as others have said I'd "suck it up" and see what happens.
However if you still feel the same way after a month or two then get the hell out of dodge and fly back to the nest. Since a job is a big part of your life it goes without saying that you should at least not hate it (especially when you're young) - Be cheerful - you're in control of your own life.....
