I need help

I have so many problems that I don't even know where to begin. I am in a fair amount of debt which I am scared I will end up having to pay back, which I would not be bothered about so much if those debts were mine. But they aren't. For the record, I am 22 with a one year old child and I'm on benefits.
My mother took out a bunch of loans, a credit card, an online catalogue order and even sky in my name. I also suspect she is the reason my old bank is in over £1000 worth of debt. The problem I'm having is that I'm being passed from pillar to post with them, and when I do get around to telling them I want it all passed to fraud they wont because they say this is a family dispute which I do not agree with. I believe because she took these out without my knowledge it is still fraud, despite the fact that she has admitted to doing it years later. I know my mother will not pay these debts, so I am landed with them. I have tried everything I know of doing and I am at my last straw now. I can not handle this stress and I am worried I am going to end up ill for it. Any advice on this would be helpful.
The other problem I am having is that I rang up a loan company to enquire about a loan, I told them point blank I did not want one but 80 pound went out of my account a couple of days later. I rang the company, they told me to email them requesting for a refund. They promised it would be refunded within two weeks.
It wasn't.
Two months down the line I'm still fighting for this money to be returned and I have threatened them with court. They have been highly unhelpful and I don't know what else to say to them to make them speed up. Any advice on this would also be appreciated.

Wow what a horrible situation!
Have you tried contacting the police about the fraud? It certainly sounds like fraud if she took the loans etc. out without your knowledge. It's possible that if you get a crime reference number etc. then the companies will be more willing to deal with it properly. I'm not an expert at this kind of issue though, so someone else might have more specific advice.
Regarding the other issue, did you give them your account details over the phone?!! What was the £80 for? I'd send letters by recorded delivery rather than going by phone/e-mail so you can set out your case and prove what you have discussed. Might be worth contacting the financial ombudsman as well.Savings target: £25000/£25000

Stay strong - do not pay these companies anything or you will undo the good work you have done. Write to them, and insist they send you proof that YOU owe them anything. How old are these alleged debts anyway? It could be that they are statute barred or nearly so, which means they can't be enforced in a court.
Did the other company take money out as a direct debit? If so, just wondering if it would be covered by the Direct Debit guarantee and you could try and get your bank to refund it. If not, keep at it, but keep everything in writing, and reiterate that you will take action if the money isn't refunded within x amount of days. (of course, court action doesn't guarantee you will get the money even if you get a judgement in your favour).
